Torsti, a.k.a Loving You Locomotion, b. 26.4.2006

 Torsti
After Arttu's first birthday we began considering having another puppy. A litter of five puppies was born in kennel Loving You in Tampere on the 26th of April, 2006. In June we brought little Torsti home.

From day one, Torsti was amazingly brisk and full of energy. He was a Dog with a capital D and with a big ego, who unfortunately had ended up in a small frame. Though 'small' is a relative term; when Torsti was six months old he was already bigger than Arttu. His official name, Locomotion, has turned out to be more than prophetic, and even his pet name Torsti has been derived from Thor, the god of thunder.

Torsti is much more sociable and boisterous than Arttu. He is also a lot more primitive; he is the one that always finds a nice pile of something smelly and, of course, rolls on it. When it gets hot in the summer, Torsti digs himself a nice cool hole in the sand, while Arttu sneaks inside to sleep on the cool floor tiles.

Torsti loves people more than anything (except maybe food) and enjoys meeting other dogs (though nowadays he prefers females as they don't require him to start showing off and pretending he is a Big Dog). Playing is his favourite pastime, especially games that involve pulling, or fetching tennis balls. The latter is his passion number one, he can easily fetch the ball about a hundred times. I've tried. In general, Torsti loves anything that puts him in the spotlight of attention. If, somehow, everyone has forgotten his existence, Torsti will instantly start his "attention howling". Unfortunately, Torsti was diagnosed with an allergy at the age of four. In the summertime he would get a rash on the stomach and paws, and the allergy test results proved he was allergic to certain foods and some pollens as well. Luckily, washing him with a specific allergy shampoo and adjusting the diet have helped and he is now feeling well.  In addition, he is  undergoing  hyposensibilisation  which means having an injection  every few days - being the brave dog he is, they are a piece of cake. When it comes to the new diet, I'm sure Torsti couldn't be happier. He is now  enjoying BARF and especially the bones seem to be going down well.
